bunk bed roundup

cute bunk beds

Brigette is about ready to be a bigger bed (she has been in this adorable toddler bed since she transitioned from the crib), and I've been thinking through the best way to make this happen.  I'm considering bunk beds, as it would be really fun, and also keep much of the floor open for more playing.  I've been looking and looking, and above are some of my favorites (also check out my pin board for some fun bunk bed inspiration!):

(1) Millbrook Iron Bunk Bed: I like this classic look.  It could go easily with quite a few styles, and it doesn't look bulky.  It's also surprisingly on the lower end (IKEA excluded!) when it comes to price compared to other options.

(2) The Oeuf Perch Bed: This look is much more modern, but it can be sweetened up a little with details and bedding.  I also love that the lofted bed and twin below can be separated, or you can turn the twin perpendicular to the lofted bed, for a different look.

(3) The Dwell MidCentury Bed: Even though it says "mid century," this bed has more of a classic look to me.  I think it could go well with a mix of styles, and I do love the little legs on the bottom!

(4) Mydal IKEA Bunk Bed: You absolutely can't beat this price, and it's simplicity works in it's favor.  With minimal, Scandinavian design everywhere, this piece is easy to work with, and you could also paint it for a custom look.  Unpainted it makes for a really fun "campy" look.

(5) Cargo Bunk Bed: This bed has a bit of a beachy vibe to it, which is fun since bunk beds make me think of either camping or the beach.  It would be a fun look to run with!

(6) IKEA Kura bed: Another bunk with an unbeatable price.  While this one isn't marketed as a bunk bed, there are countless versions on pinterest that have been cleverly used as bunks and customized in really fun ways.  (See pinboard here!)  It's also much lower, so if your kids are on the smaller side, or you think they may be afraid to be up too high, this can be a great option.  I think I would consider adding feet, though; having the bottom mattress directly on the floor can look messy.  It's super cute in styled photos, but in reality, it could end up looking a bit cluttered.

What do you think?  Do you use bunk beds?  (Also, check out my favorite big kid bed round up  and toddler bed roundup if you are making a similar transition!)
